SEA Services

Our Special Education Advocates can help you identify and prioritize your child’s unique and special needs by providing the following services::
  • Perform a case review of the current Evaluation Report (ER), Individualized Education Program (IEP), and other pertinent documents, as necessary.
  • Observe the child at school or other settings as necessary.
  • Consult with teachers, school/district personnel and other professionals who work with the child.
  • Help parents write effective letters to the school district or obtain a copy of educational records.
  • Educate parents about their child’s right to a free and appropriate education, the applicable laws, and the special education process, how to effectively partner with the school IEP team, how to effectively resolve issues, and how to be their children’s best advocate.
  • Attend IEP meetings with parents/guardians, if deemed necessary.
  • Referring parents to private professionals and agencies for independent evaluations and services when necessary.
  • Assistance in identifying and accessing services available in your community.
  • If the family has been unsuccessful in obtaining a free appropriate public education (FAPE), Northern Therapy Group advocates will attend a resolution meeting, mediation or a due process hearing.
  • Empower and educate families to strengthen their own advocacy skills.
